Other Upcoming Events:

Here's A Look at What We Discussed at Last Month's Meeting...

  • NBbike will be hosting a Bicycle Advocacy Training by MassBike on June 25th from 6:00-8:00PM, location TBD. We are inviting neighboring community bike organizations to this event. So, stay tuned!
  • Upcoming infrastructure improvements include:
    • The striping of the south end path for bicycle/pedestrian distinctions...
    • South Rodney French Blvd. will be striped, soon.
    • One of the two cycle-aid stations, donated by Yesteryear Cyclery have been installed at Fort Taber. The other will be installed at Wings Court, once improvements to lower Union St. are complete.
  • Tony and Sarah will begin work on a People for Bikes grant for the Pulaski Park Project.
  • The United Way of GNB Community Building Mini-Grant application was discussed. Possible ideas included a mini-documentary about the diverse local bicycle culture, creating a rolling bike clinic program, and securing funds for applying for non-profit status...
  • Much interest was expressed for non-profit incorporation. However, funds from the mini-grant may not be used for this purpose. Therefore, David submitted a proposal for the rolling bike clinics project.
  • Other projects in the works include, a bike-friendly business partnership.
  • New Bedford Bicycle Committee is beginning to review and revise organizational strategies, including the possibility of creating sub-committees.
  • The proposed date of the New Bedford Pedal Party is September 26th at Fort Taber.
